A declassified United States Air Force film from 1972, known as Paisley Print Task I, details a project aimed at training rhesus monkeys for reconnaissance and sabotage missions through remote direction. Conducted by the Environmental Medicine and Human Engineering divisions of the 6570th Aerospace Medical Research Laboratory at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, the project involved training monkeys to follow remote commands and wear electrode vests for correction. The film showcases the training process and demonstrates the use of the remote-controlled vest. The ultimate goal was to deploy monkeys equipped with cameras, explosives, or supplies into enemy territory for offensive countermeasures. However, doubts remain about the effectiveness of remote-controlled vests overriding the monkeys' instincts in real combat situations.
