Released or escaped pet pythons such as the tiger reticulated python in this video adapt very well to South Florida’s mild climate & environment. Snakes usually swallow larger prey head first by sensing the carbon dioxide around the dead animal’s mouth area. The reticulated python is a species of python found usually in Southeast Asia and in South Florida occasionally. They are the world's longest snakes and among the three heaviest snakes. Like all pythons, they are nonvenomous constrictors and normally not considered dangerous to humans. However, cases of people killed (and in at least one case eaten) by reticulated pythons have been documented. Reticulated pythons are semi aquatic reptiles, excellent swimmers and have been reported far out at sea to colonized small islands within its range.
