Chronicle of the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict: Events of the week of May 11 - 17, 2024
▪️ The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) continued ground operations in the Gaza Strip. The Israelis carried out air and artillery strikes and conducted raids on militant positions in Jabalia in the north of the enclave.
▪️ The IDF deployed reinforcements to Jabalia to expand the operation. The neighboring city of Beit Hanoun remains blockaded.
▪️ The Israeli forces also repeatedly combed the area around Az-Zeitun. As a result of the ground campaigns in southern Gaza, IDF troops destroyed several facilities of Palestinian groups.
▪️ At the same time, the As-Sabra district of the enclave's capital was subjected to intense IDF bombardment. The target of the latest raid was a UN refugee agency clinic, where at least 50 people were located.
▪️ In response to the IDF attacks, Palestinian groups struck Israeli cities. From the territory of Jabalia, they carried out several salvos towards Sderot.
▪️ Meanwhile, in the central part of the enclave, the IDF struck targets of Palestinian groups. During another Israeli Air Force airstrike on the Al-Bureij camp, about 40 people were killed.
▪️ A much more stable situation persisted in Deir al-Balah, where refugees from the south of the enclave are arriving. Due to the formation of tent settlements in the city, the intensity of shelling has decreased.
▪️ In the southern part of the Palestinian enclave, the Israelis continue a ground operation. The IDF was most active in the east, in the vicinity of Rafah.
