Haydn completed this symphony in 1763, along with the symphony 12, 13 and 14. The prodigious number of works Haydn was able to complete this year is likely due to his well-funded position in the court of Prince Nikolaus Esterházy.

This work is comprised of four movements:

II. Menuet e Trio
III. Andante
