📻 Born in Greenwich, south London, in 1954, Steve’s journey with the BBC began as a humble clerk. But his passion for broadcasting led him to Thames Valley Radio in 1976, where he made his mark. Four years later, he joined BBC Radio 1, presenting weekend programs. However, it was his iconic show, “Steve Wright in the Afternoon”, that truly defined his legacy. Launched in 1981, this afternoon program captured the hearts of listeners and solidified his position as one of the UK’s most enduring and popular radio personalities.
🎧 Steve’s energy and passion for radio were palpable. He remained deeply connected to his audience, consistently delivering shows that brought smiles to their faces. His dedication was recognized when he received an MBE for services to radio in the New Year Honours list.
