Germany: Dozens march in support of hunger striking Greek militant in Berlin

Dozens of protesters marched in support of imprisoned Greek far-left militant Dimitris Koufontinas, who has been on a hunger strike for almost two months, in Berlin, on Saturday.
The demonstration began at the correctional facility for women in Berlin's north-eastern Lichtenberg neighbourhood, and terminated at the partially squatted building at Friedrichshain's Rigaer Strasse 94.
Koufontinas reportedly suffered kidney failure on Friday and remains in a critical condition, since beginning his hunger strike on January 8 when his demand to be transferred to a different prison closer to his family was refused.
The 63-year-old was a member of a far-left group called 'November 17,' which was active in Greece from the 1970s to the early 2000s. The former member of the now-disbanded group was sentenced to 11 life sentences for multiple killings and bomb attacks in 2003.
