Calling things by other names doesn't physically change their nature, but it does change people's perception of them. Human beings have emotional responses to words, and therefore, it's possible to alter people's responses by changing the words. This is a form of mind-manipulation using the language as a tool. For example, the United States is currently colonizing these four nations: American Samoa, US Virgin Islands, Northern Marianas, and Guam. However, since American politicians and corporate media regularly call these colonies "territories," they magically stopped being colonies ONLY in the minds of those who accepted the new terminology and allowed themselves to be brainwashed by words.
