the rolling stones - it's all over now - stereo edit V
Edit 5 for headphones, October 2022. Dubbed video. This one is an edit I made of the version on the 1964 album "12x5" (Japanese mini lp, 2006 remaster UICY-93014).
"It's All Over Now" was written by Bobby Womack and Shirley Womack (his sister-in-law). It was first released by "The Valentinos" featuring Bobby Womack. The Valentinos version entered the Billboard Hot 100 on June 27, 1964, where it stayed on the charts for two weeks, peaking at no. 94.
The Rolling Stones (for one week) had their first number-one UK hit with this song in July 1964. They recorded it in June 1964 in the Chess Studio in Chicago. I think it is way better than "Satisfaction": it has an outstanding guitar solo, and, most important, it is true stereo, as most of the songs that they recorded in the Chess Studio. The stereo version of "Satisfaction" was published only many years later, and - in my opinion - it isn't as good as the mono version, it takes the soul out of the song, though a nice version is on the album "Remastered", a rare promo item.
Their second number one hit in the UK was also in 1964 (December 5), "Little Red Rooster", which is mono, though recorded in the same studio.
"It's All Over Now" was recorded June 10 & 11, 1964. Released in the UK as a single in June 1964 and in the US as a single in July 1964, released on the US LP "12x5" in 1964, and on "Big Hits (High Tide And Green Grass)" November 4, 1966.
Guitars: Brian Jones (on electric 12-string) & Keith Richards. Backing vocals: Brian Jones, Keith Richards & Bill Wyman. Bass: Bill Wyman. Lead vocals & tambourine: Mick Jagger. Drums: Charlie Watts. Piano: Ian Stewart.
Chess Studio recording engineer: Ron Malo. *
IT'S ALL OVER NOW
(Bobby Womack and Shirley Womack)
well baby used to stay out all night long
she made me cry, she done me wrong
she hurt my eyes open, that's no lie
tables turn and now her turn to cry
because I used to love her, but it's all over now
because I used to love her, but it's all over now
well, she used to run around with every man in town
she spent all my money, playing her half-assed game
she put me out, it was a pity how I cried
tables turn and now her turn to cry
because I used to love her, but it's all over now
because I used to love her, but it's all over now
well, I used to walk in the morning, get my breakfast in bed
when I'd gotten worried she'd ease my aching head
but now she's here and there, with every man in town
still trying to take me for that same old clown
because I used to love her, but it's all over now
because I used to love her, but it's all over now
because I used to love her, but it's all over now
because I used to love her, but it's all over now
