There is a parable in Matthew 13:33 about a woman hiding leaven in three measures of meal. But what did Christ mean by this? What does leaven symbolise in the Bible? The Bible tells us clearly that leaven represents sin. The Kingdom of God is not sin.

The leaven can refer to false doctrines introduced into the Church. There are many churches today that are full of leaven and false teachings. The Pharisees had leaven of false doctrines as well. Leaven does not belong in God's Church, as we must be spiritually unleavened.
