Hornby R9046 Toby The Tram Engine (From Thomas and Friends) Review HD

Here is my unboxing and review video of the Hornby Railways R9046 Toby The Tram Engine in OO gauge that is from the Thomas and Friends of model trains that Hornby are producing until the end of 2018. Toby the Tram Engine first came out in 2006 as a brand new model from Hornby and uses the same chassis as the Bill and Ben models that Hornby used to make until about 2010 although the chassis was reconfigured to an 0-6-0 setup and has drawbars on the sides like Toby does in the television series.

The model is a pre-owned example and there is no paperwork or anything else than just the box it arrived in but I am an experienced model railway user and I did give this model train a service before I did this review because it needed it to be honest.

The Hornby model of Toby ran considerably well and he could handle the test train of the Troublesome trucks and the other relaited freight car wagons in the rake consist. The model is NOT DCC ready but it is fairly simple to add a decoder into the model if you know how to do it and there are guides to this on the internet anyway. Overall a very nice model of Toby although he may be a wee bit tall for some sheds and low tunnels.
