Glitch / Trick in Clash of Clans to upgrade hero equipment early that is not unlocked in the blacksmith. It appears you can get the Royal Champion's equipment to the Town Hall 12 max for common equipment, which is level 15. This is a huge buff to the hero, as going in to Town Hall 13 (with a hero potion) and using a book on the lab, you can take down maxed out Town Hall 13s.
