WHO HACKED CEX in August 2017 apparently "stealing 2 million CEX customer details from before 2009"? CEX is a highly successful exchange and second hand for electronics, computer games and DVD chain based in the UK. CEX also operates in 100 stores abroad. The sudden hack of CEX was ignored by the Non-Corporate Media, but was 'screamed from the rooftops' by BBC, Murdoch and the Corporate Media in a way that seemed out of proportion for a hack of 8 year old data?

Online commentators accused big Online retailers like Zavvi, eBay and Amazon for the 'hack' and subsequent media hysteria aimed at damaging CEX. However the loyal CEX customer base and employee base were unperturbed. Further curious evidence of attack on CEX was glassdoor.com that had thousands of positive employee reviews on 'closed unless registered' but five negative reviews of CEX by disgruntled ex-employees.

CEX is a thorn in the side of the corporations. It encourages trading and second hand rather than buying new. CEX does this cheaper than Online competitors through a complex and clever system of pricing. Postage is much cheaper than Amazon. The UK postage on 10 second hand DVDs from CEX central is £2.50. Amazon are charging that for one item. CEX also goes against corporate ideas on having profit share and staff discounts, plus staff do not wear any uniform and staff that have green hair and are transvestites are a boon to the bohemian image of the stores. The stores are all bright red and highly popular. Franchise deals of CEX stores are profitable and recommended from the business community.

Bearing all of this in mind...WHY HACKED CEX and WHY becomes more and more obvious... ; )
