Arlo Guthrie wrote this anti-war protest song about a Thanksgiving long ago in Stockbridge, MA. If you're ever talking to some American over 50 about a small odd group refer to them as on the "Group W Bench" which originates in this song. Anyway, this song is an excellent slice of American and better for the family than a day of football.

When I was a kid; WHFS 102.3 FM would always play this song for D.C. around noon every Thanksgiving. If you lived in D.C. in the 60's '70s or '80s then you knew there was only one place for real music on your FM dial in D.C. When we'd sing along to bits of this song we didn't know where Stockbridge, Massachusetts was. But we sure knew were Vietnam was and that we didn't want to go.
