Melchizedek According to the King James Bible
YOU CAN’T EARN WHAT IS ALREADY PAID FOR
There is nothing that can save you from your sins outside of the sacrificed life, the shed blood of Jesus Christ. That is why the Bible calls salvation “the gift of God.” If you could earn salvation then there would be room for you to boast in what you’ve accomplished. Isn’t it interesting? Even though mankind has committed sin, we still attempt to save ourselves through our good works. Of course, there is a teaching going around that good deeds can somehow cancel out your bad ones, but that is a lie. The reality is we have nothing to pride ourselves in as it concerns the accomplishment of salvation and is disqualified because of our own wrong actions. Are you getting the picture? Upon realizing that there is nothing we can do to save ourselves the only proper response is a desperate cry for salvation. And when we truly examine the nature of salvation, we have to admit that it is an unmerited, undeserved gift of God. The way we receive His gift is through faith, by believing on the one, Jesus Christ, whom God has sent to save us. I will never be my own savior. I can only be the recipient of God’s Grace, never the initiator.
Ephesians 2:8-9
[8] For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: [9] Not of works, lest any man should boast.
