Here is another re-upload from a 2014 grow in Denver, CO. In this video, you will see a side-by-side comparison of a plant that is ready to switch to 12/12 flowering light cycle and a seedling that is too small to flip.
This was a strain I was developing back when called Turquoise Dream, not related to Blue Dream.
Cannabis plants have to be a certain size (maturity) before they are capable of sexing, and if the plant is too small, it will not respond when you initiate the 12/12 flowering light cycle.
Therefore, it is best practice NOT to start at 12/12 from seed. Instead, you should veg your plants at least 25-30 days before flipping the light cycle.
Use the plants in this video as an example of when it is okay to flip. In the meantime, a few extra weeks of veg can give your plants more than 100 additional hours of light, which will help your plants get bigger faster.
