Rancho Cucamonga Urban Forest Management Plan (UFMP)
Rancho Cucamonga, California, is Woke: City Wants Tree Laws on Your Private Property.
Why would the city institute a “voluntary plan” over the entire city that is unnecessary? Why now, in the middle of steep inflation and during a recession?
The UFMP is a city internal staff initiative. That’s right, this idea came from the city manager and staff inside the city. The Mayor signed a contract and the contractor, Dudek, submitted a $181,000 proposal to develop the plan. Once installed, the plan will have to be updated every few years.
The city wants to inventory, catalog, and control all trees, through a computer surveillance, database system. The city will decide what trees are to be protected, on your property. If you want to trim these trees or remove them, you will have to hire a tree expert, to do a study; then, you will have to ask the city for permission.
The plan is designed to install tree laws over your private property. This unconstitutional plan is about control: control of your private property. Once installed, what’s to prevent the city from adding more laws in the future, not just to control your trees, but perhaps your private vegetable garden?
The city, consultants and nonprofits will make money on this scheme; the tax payers will lose.
Write a letter to your District Council Person, and voice your concern about this overreaching plan.
