Stop calling it Home Schooling!
Even if you live in a place where you have to do a more structured approach to educating your children at home.
Learn the difference between Education, and Schooling.
Learn their history, especially the history of school. It was created as a means of control for soldiers. It was brought into the Industrial World to provide child care for the mill workers, and in turn create more Good Little Mill Workers!
It is all about control!
So stop calling it home schooling, especially here in the UK where it has always been, and should remain, Home Education.
Right now here in the UK they want to bring in a register of home education. They've rumbled about this 2 or 3 time just in my 7 years as a home educating mum. In the 20-something years I've been around home ed it's been many more.
The more they rumble about it the more in the Home Education community begin to slip into calling it 'home schooling', and official from local authorities call it this more and more.
It is not Home Schooling! We are facilitating education! By definition, if you do follow a curriculum, you are still educating your children, at home!
The schools and controlling elements of the education system in the world are crumbling. They will not last the decade! So find ways to do it better. Meet your children's needs, facilitate their learning to follow their dreams and passion. And most of all, Trust Them! Children can not help but learn, to walk, talk, read and write, as long as we facilitate them in a loving, nurturing environment!
