One of the earliest animation series by Max and Dave Fleischer, the Out of the Inkwell series ran from 1918 to 1929. The series was almost always a hilarious mix of live-action and classic animation-in Cartoon Factory, the Fleischers also experimented with stop-motion and the interposition of stationary photography into the mix as well, pretty much twisting reality into a pretzel for the audience's amusement...This early 8 minute feature was originally released as a short Silent film, but was later re-released as a 'talkie' with a full dialogue and soundtrack.
I was quite frankly in need of a good belly laugh tonight-and since I suspect that I am not alone in this I will continue to release these animated gems as I find them...B&W, Sound.
