This is a review and an unboxing video of the Hornby Railways R2035 Class 92 Electric Locomotive numbered as 92045 named as Chaucer in the EPS (European Passenger Services) triple grey livery. This model train was released 21 years ago in 1997 as part of the Hornby Railways "Top Link" model locomotive range that was first introduced in 1996 and personally. I think this model locomotive was one of the best releases at the time as it was one of the few modern locomotives to have directional headlights. This makes my fourth model Class 92 in total to join my fleet of model trains and I do plan to get more model trains to review in due course with another train set review planned that is of a Lima set this time but that is all I am saying for now.
The 1997 revised Hornby model of the Class 92 has the plastic pantograph arms fitted to make the model more true to scale with the actual train. This model locomotive uses the ringfield motor that gives enough weight for the Class 92 to haul a decent sized freight train although it can surely handle these rake of 5 Lima tankers easily enough without any issues.
As a protocol, I always give my model trains a run in and a service if necessary on any pre-owned model trains that I buy. I got this one as a pre-owned model train and the only detraction is that a buffer is missing but I have replacements on the way so that is not a problem either. The prices of these older model trains can vary but I would not pay more than £50 posted for an excellent example like this one.
