The Monarch Restoration Project, which is ran through OneTreePlanted, focuses on farmland conversion and forest restoration in the Michoacan state of Mexico, the monarch butterfly's winter migration destination. The project plants native trees such as Oyamel Fir, Mexican pines, Mexican cypresses, and Chihuahua pines, creating migratory rest stops for the butterflies as they travel. Along with helping the ecosystem and the butterflies, the project will also help teach sustainable foresting practices, ex: proper planting techniques, sustainable harvesting, and land and plant protection. The project will also create jobs and opportunities for those impacted. Every dollar helps. Literally. For every dollar donated, a tree will be planted. So, no matter the donation size, every little amount helps. The donation goal is $150, and I will top it off with $100 of my own money. If you make a donation of $15 or more you will be entered into a raffle to win a bundle of a choosing of 2 wax melts and a commission from EmpressKae.
