Scherzo Fantastico in G minor, Op. 25 by Josef Suk

Czech composer Josef Suk completed this short work for orchestra in 1903, with the first publication being released in 1905 by German company Breitkopf und Härtel. Suk was a protégé of composer Antonin Dvorák and would eventually become Dvorák’s son in law when Suk married Otilie Dvorák, the daughter of the composer Dvorák. While the influence of Dvorák can be seen in several of Suk’s compositions, this work shows Suk expanding into the more modernist music of the early 1900’s.

The work is comprised of a single movement.
