Jean Tinner fired a rifle at the cryptid when he first saw it in 1711.
Hans Fuchs saw two creatures in 1779; he later described them as having a head resembling a cat, two front legs with claws, and a serpentine body that measured between 5 and 7 feet in length.
Fuchs had a heart attack shortly after and passed away from sheer terror.
The German word meaning "worm with claws" (Tatzelwurm) was given to the creature.
The Alpine regions of Germany, Austria, and Italy have also reported sightings of it.
There have been conjectures that the tazelwurm is a gigantic salamander; nevertheless, salamanders are primarily aquatic animals.
Or maybe there's a link in evolution between snakes and lizards.
Could there really be a mysterious beast living in the deep Alps crevasses that science has never discovered?
