Poland : Army of Muslim Migrants Attack the Polish Border

The Eastern Front is back. We reported four months ago that Lukashenko's #Belarus was allowing #migrants from the Middle East to fly into Minsk and then was guiding them to the western borders of Belarus with Lithuania and Poland. The situation has continued to worsen, particularly on the Poland-Belarus border which has seen forceful attempts by migrants to break through the Polish borders in the past week and increasing attention from Western media and governments.

How did this all begin? Despite the attempt by much mainstream western media to describe Belarus (and #Putin) as aggressors against the European Union, this mess all began when the EU made attempts at regime change on Belarus and put economic sanctions on the country when these failed. President Lukashenko of Belarus in turn started to use refugees against the European Union, to hit them back for these sanctions.

Lukashenko has clearly followed closely the actions of the governments of Morocco and Turkey who have both leveraged muslim immigration as a tool to extract compliance or favours from Europe. This is possible because the European Union and European national governments are soft on migration and border protection against the said refugees. By refusing to push-back hard on illegal migrants at the Polish borders and other European borders, they hand the weapon of muslim immigration over to regimes on the periphery of Europe.

Now Poland and the European Union is blaming Putin for the mess that the EU got itself into and the influx of refugees. While the actions of Belarus upon Polish border are definitely a dirt tactic, this is a fight Brussels chose. The future of Europe depends on a harsh stance on muslim immigration (including most particularly illegal migration) and on making good working relationships with Europe's neighbours where possible, including Putin. That means punishing illegal migration severely and negotiating seriously with Middle Eastern governments and former Soviet States. Attempting coups and encouraging civil dissent in these regions does not help Europe.
