Alison Weir discusses settlement expansion in East Jerusalem with Jeff Halper, co-founder and Coordinator of the Israeli Committee Against House Demolitions (ICAHD), and how Israel uses home demolitions to sow fear among Palestinians in the occupied territories.
Alison Weir is an American activist, journalist and writer best known for her connection to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. She is the founder and executive director of the nonprofit organization If Americans Knew and president of the Council for the National Interest (CNI). She is known for critical views toward Israel.
Jeff Halper, is a long-time human rights advocate and professor of Anthropology, who continues to serve as the Director of ICAHD, a group opposed to Israeli settlements, an Israeli peace and human rights organization dedicated to ending the occupation of the Palestinian territories and achieving a just peace between Israelis and Palestinians. He believes his organization is a critical, 'radical' organization which envisions a single democratic state in Palestine/Israel.
Alison Weir is founder of “If Americans Knew” (an Organization she created after her visit to the West Bank and Gaza Strip during the Second Intifada {uprising} in 2001), she provides information on topics of importance that are substantially misreported or unreported in the US media. She also states that the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is one of the world's major sources of instability, and that Americans are directly connected to this conflict, and increasingly imperiled by its devastation. Her organization seeks to provide full and accurate information on this critical issue, and on our power – and duty – to bring a resolution.
