Dr. Smith: "No, the hospital where we see patients, its a system wide thing, they banned use of HCQ in December 2020 for an indication -- meaning if you were going to use it for Covid. You can put anyone on HCQ if you thing they have Lupus-- that's fine. Even if I decided HCQ worked to treat migraines, I could use it for that too.
That was a unique ban in American medicine, where they banned a medicine by indication (to treat Covid)."
Laura Ingraham: "Could we have saved 10,000 lives?"
Dr. Smith: "No more than that man. A lot more."
Laura: '100.000??'
"Yeah, Laura, I hate to say things like that, but YES. I just try to look at the data. The study was not really just HCQ study by any means. We looked at everything, we looked at every medicine ever given, every lab value, every vital signs. We looked at prior visits to doctors, but HCQ kept coming up, and it was a cumulative dose associated with outcome, not just whether you got some HCQ as in some of the studies."
