When signing up for xfinity.com/free you will be required to provide your personal information, social security number, and private email but will not be able to sign up with out paying for the service. Here is a real example of how you should expect to be treated while being asked to chat with customer service on their site:
Ashley: Hi, I am an Xfinity Advisor. Thanks for your interest in our awesome products! How may I assist you?
You: I qualify for ACP but xfinity . com / free is requiring a credit card and prepayment when I try to sign up for the minimum service.
Ashley: Thank you for your interest in Xfinity!
Ashley: Hello, nice to have you on chat. Hope you're doing well!
Ashley: I understand that you're being asked to make prepayment when signing up for the internet service.
Ashley: Just to confirm, have you selected manual payment and did run a credit check?
You: I do not know if xfinity ran a credit check. I was not asked to select manual payments.
Ashley: Alright! Thanks for confirming that. Please be informed that we don't have the tools to check and assist on why were you asked to make pre payment when signing up for the plan.
