Döpfner, the CEO of news publisher Axel Springer and a Bilderberg Steering Committee member, states that among conferences, Bilderberg is a role model of transparency. Bilderberg is not comparable to the World Economic Forum's annual Davos meeting because it is a much smaller conference, Döpfner says.

Minton Beddoes, the editor-in-chief of The Economist, is also a Bilderberg Steering Committee member. Minton Beddoes and Döpfner were walking alongside Bloomberg News Editor-In-Chief John Micklethwait and UK Minister of State for Security Tom Tugendhat. Micklethwait recently joined the steering committee, as well.
