When Dr Fauci said don't wear masks

In an interview with CBS 60 Minutes on 8 March 2020, Dr Anthony Fauci said people should not be walking around with masks on because they do little good and can cause more harm. By July he was recommending mask wearing and on 23 October he called for a nationwide universal mask mandate. He defended his original advice by saying that ‘in the context of the time in which I said it, it was correct’ because we had a serious problem with the lack of personal protective equipment (PPEs) for healthcare workers.
