In the aftermath of the Christchurch New Zealand mass shooting Australia is on track to pass legislation that would make the executives of social media companies like Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube criminally liable for their contents of their users. As in, they could face jail-time for what users are posting on social media. On top of this, the companies will also be liable for billions of dollars in fines. This is for all content, regardless of where the users who posted it are from. It will only lead to mass censorship globally too.
