A promise is a way of setting up a plan of action for a response to come.

We use promises a lot when we request data from external sources like servers or databases.

While that request is being fulfilled, we can have our program do other things.
It's sort of like multi-tasking.
This is Javascript's asynchronous-nature at work. Things are seemingly working in parallel.
