Fresh off of Dracula and Murders in the Rue Morgue. Bela Lugosi appeared in this 1932 independent flick by director Victor Halperin. The film was shot in early spring 1932 for around $50,000. There's been a lot of inconsistencies regarding how much Lugosi was paid for his role as the voodoo master Murder Legendre, with claims going anywhere between $500 - $5000. The film also had problems with distribution, jumping to several studios before getting released with United Artists.

Since it's release the film has garnered a cult following and was also the namesake of Rob Zombie's first band.
