The Last Days Of Pompeii (1984) Part 2
An Italian-American tv miniseries from 1984 on ABC and Rai from the 1834 novel.
"The different aspects of life in Pompeii, a coastal luxury resort near Naples catering for the very rich of imperial Rome, mainly before but culminating in the eruption of the Vesuvian volcano, which wipes it from the face of the Earth."
The film is mostly a propaganda statement about the superiority of the Christian faith and the corruption of the Roman ethic and their faith, and unfortunately for Latinophiles like myself it's TRUE. Rome very much was corrupt. When Pompeii was first being excavated by archeologists in 1748, scholars debated hotly that they should re-bury the sites, as it revealed the true nature of Roman culture- Slavery, brothels, gambling, every vice which had been (it was thought) eradicated from the world at the time.
