In 2020, Will Wood released the song “I/Me/Myself” about how he was pressured to identify as genderqueer because he was gender nonconforming. This song reveals his mental health issues combined with the toxicity of the modern queer movement. After he came to terms with being a man, many of his fans stopped supporting him and refused to see him as anything other than transgender.
This song has gone through multiple revisions every time it came out. The current version includes this as the bridge.
“Eating your prosthetic meat/meet your anesthetic criteria
Pathetic seeing you be copacetic/come acetic
Say my name like a slur, but I've been called worse
And I've heard it all before, no this isn't a first
Let me be the void you fill with
Taxidermy fingerprints, taxonomize our differences
I am quantum physics
My witness brings me into existence”
The original lyrics for the bridge were much more risqué
“Maybe I were wishing I were 5 foot 5
weighting 99 wearing thigh highs
could you please objectify me? i’m just
a hunka hunka burning self-loathing
my evidence, my witness, when i’m
caught breaking the laws of physics”
And since as a Zoomer, I happen to be thrown into the communities of both William Woodiam fandoms and Contrapoints cults, I happened to notice the similarities between the two of them.
And I found the demo lyrics for the bridge more accurate.
