Per the announcer at the 1861-1865 'War Between the States' reenactment event that occurred at Brooksville, Florida:
The 'Overland Campaign' lasted a little less than 6 weeks. In that 6 weeks period of time, there were 80,000 casualties. Union General Grant lost as many soldiers as Confederate General Lee had in his
entire army. The difference was that General Lee could not replace those that he lost. Union General Grant had an almost endless supply of material and soldiers. By the time that General Grant had broke the lines of General Lee 10 months later, there were some 200,000 Union soldiers around, while General Lee's army had been reduced to around 40,000.
