Looney Tunes - Bugs Bunny - Wild and Woolly Hare (1959)

Wild and Woolly Hare is a 1959 Warner Bros. Looney Tunes animated short directed by Friz Freleng. The short was released on August 1, 1959, and stars Bugs Bunny and Yosemite Sam.

This is the last cartoon that is used for Act 1 of Friz Freleng's Looney Looney Looney Bugs Bunny Movie, but some of the scenes were edited for time (and the alternate scene with the can getting corked when Bugs shoots at it was used).
This cartoon was also used for the TV special, How Bugs Bunny Won the West (and included an alternate scene that was used to replace an edited scene. See "Censorship" above).
After many years of deliberately miscast villain roles, this cartoon marks the first time since "High Diving Hare" (1949) that Yosemite Sam returns to his original cowboy roots as seen in his earliest cartoons such as "Hare Trigger" (1945) and "Bugs Bunny Rides Again" (1948). Much like these earlier two cartoons, this cartoon depicts both Bugs and Sam in a Western setting, with Bugs once again saving the town from the villainous Sam.
During the climax where Bugs and Sam are about to duel with locomotives, there appears to be little to no background music playing.
There are four crudely-drawn cowboy versions of Bugs Bunny in the title card.
The engine on the first train is an American 4-4-0 type (four leading wheels, four driving wheels, and no trailing wheels) steam locomotive, which is hauling two coaches, and was the common wheel arrangement for 25,000 steam trains being used on American railroads during the 1800s and 1830s until 1928, while the other locomotive is a 4-2-0 engine.
