Documentary – The Philosopher's Stone Part 12: LSD, Meditation, Psychotherapy and Music
Prof. Dr. Rolf Verres, specialist for psychotherapeutic medicine, starts with a piano piece and then holds an interesting speech about psychotherapeutic approaches with LSD and music. He talks about the process of different states of consciousness during an LSD experience and which music is suited for which exact phase.
Besides classical composers also world music or meditation music are suggested for therapeutic sessions. 8 points are of importance:
Why do you want to use LSD? - Expamding your consciousness or simply for hedonistic reasons, for "fun"?
A purely hedonistic approach can be also reasonable.
Second: Single or group experience? Do you have a common topic or theme for the journey and is the group musically on the same page?
Third: In case of a group experience – use film music as a guide
Fouirth: Consciously recited texts or lyric or music can be very meaningful. Both can be experienced very intesively. What do you want to touch you, what do you want to keep away from you during the experience.
Fifth: Best possible sound experience - the kind of music is not important at all, you can make psychedelic experiences with any kind of music. But beware, negative emotions and statements are also intesified.
Sixth: There is very bad, surfacial world music or music in general, which will lower your experience.
Seventh: Fearful ego-desolving-trip (Horrortrip) or ozeanic self-delimitation (epiphany)? Experienced people, who can intervene during the journey can be crucial.
Eight: Is there spiritual music in itself? True sound art? How is this to be experienced on LSD?
