Old people who dared to vote to leave the EU
I didn't think the man who wanted to stop the elderly from voting was that different in age to me, oh well ; D Three questions I do have regarding his proposition are:
1.) At what age would you say someone is too old to vote because they will die soon, and so will be unaffected by the consequences of their vote, given that your death day is an unknown? If the high probability of your death in the near future is to be the deciding factor in whether you can vote or not, should soldiers who are on active service be denied it?
2.) Should a distinction be made between those who have descendants and those who don't? Clearly the former have more skin in the game, so to speak, than the latter by this metric.
3.) The logic of this argument would seem to indicate that the voting age should be lowered, since the younger you are, the longer you have to be affected by the consequences of a vote. How low should it go? If age is to be the only determinant then why should infants not have a say?
