Today Rocky discusses IF. This is a film with Ryan Reynolds and Cailey Flemming written and directed by the talented mind of John Krasinski. The film follows what one might consider to be a set of tropes from the 80s for family films. combined with a modern Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends This might not immediately sound appealing, however the cute IFs and the tight wit on display from Krasinski as well as a whimsical score that truly leant a fairy-esque atmosphere if for but a moment. Ryan Reynolds oft plays the absurdly handsome devilishly silver tongued hero or anti hero that is very energetic and moves at a break neck pace. However, in this film Reynolds provides a wonderfully lightt yet emotional performance that has certain energetic spurts that one might expect from a character like his. He truly ties the film together, however the center of our story relies on Flemming. Her performance in this film was wonderfully mature, yet reserved in her energetic childish nature provided a fantastic center piece for an otherwise somewhat off the charts film. The film nonetheless is a child's film, but even so I would give this film a 4/4 stars. I could understand not enjoying the film as much, but anything less that at a bare minimum of a 2/4 stars.
