Nicolae Miu is accused of murdering Issac Schuman and wounding other with a pocket knife during an altercation that occurred on the Apple River outside of Somerset, Wisconsin in July of 2022.
Miu is charged with one count of first-degree intentional homicide and four counts of attempted first-degree intentional homicide. He pleaded not guilty in September of 2022, and has been in jail since his arrest.
The prosecution is arguing that Miu was an aggressor in the incident, and plans to call more than 40 witnesses to the stand. The defense is contending that Miu stabbed the five people in self-defense because a group of 13 teenagers surrounded and began to threaten him.
