Punk has deep roots in Jewish history. From its origins with Jewish musicians in the 1970s to modern-day Jewish punk bands, the histories of Jewish culture and punk rock are deeply intertwined. This then extends to the political nature of the music that is often interpreted as being 'rebellious' and that it is a big tent club and an open and tolerant community.
Nothing could be further from the truth. It is a top down controlled monopoly with dark rights of entrance and warped political motives. Rest assured you likely would never be accepted as an insider if you have ever received gifts on Christmas morning.
Thoughtful analysis on these cultural trends becomes all the more important in an era where the attitudes and lyrics are used as justifications to establish autonomous zones within many of our cities. While the average leftist/socialist cannot justify their positions with logic and reasoned argument they have been whipped into a frenzy by many of these anti-establishment lyrics while not fully comprehending what the framework of the new establishment they are larping for entails.
