Around 3:36 PM on 2020-11-17 (Dashcam timestamp hadn't been updated to EDT) a driver ran a red light SB on N High St almost hitting the left side of the vehicle. Wife and kids inside. Location: Columbus, Ohio, USA.

Was heading home with my family chatting with the kids when this driver came around the bend left-of-center across a double-yellow-line. Since it was a 45mph zone, the combined closing speed was likely around 90mph. Good thing I saw them and slowed down.

I encountered this "professional driver" on my way to work. Headed south on I-71 in a posted construction zone with a speed limit of 45 MPH as I entered the curve known as “the east split” in downtown Columbus, the Howland Logistics driver, who was speeding, began tailgating me.

After we rounded the curve to I-70 W, the Howland driver initiated an unsafe pass, seemingly intentionally maneuvering far closer to my vehicle than necessary.

After passing, the driver did not signal and cut back into my lane.

The vehicle had a hazmat 1203 placard indicating that it was carrying "flammable liquid".

This is a great example of the value of leaving plenty of space ahead of you when driving. It gives terrible drivers more options, and allows you to deal with their poor choices calmly without surprising the drivers behind you.

No person shall operate a motor vehicle, trackless trolley, or streetcar at a speed greater or less than is reasonable or proper, having due regard to the traffic, surface, and width of the street or highway and any other conditions, and no person shall drive any motor vehicle, trackless trolley, or streetcar in and upon any street or highway at a greater speed than will permit the person to bring it to a stop within the assured clear distance ahead.

Coming up on a light that's about to change this Beemer driver decides the need to cut me off from the through lane rather than submit their indecisiveness. I was braking hard enough that my tires were sliding on the pavement - couldn't stop faster to avoid them. They didn't slow down or make any effort to avoid me. Filmed at N 4th and E 2nd St in Columbus, OH on 2019-09-11. Probably between 5:15 and 5:30 PM.

Google estimated my drive home at over 30 minutes due to traffic... so I rode past it on my bike and got home in exactly 30 minutes.

During my morning commute a cardinal ran the stop sign at a cross street and ended-up hitting me broadside in the thigh. Felt like a Nerf ball hitting me. I saw the bird coming out of the corner of my eye - but since birds have close calls fairly often I figured he'd miss. Not this time. If you listen carefully you can hear a "tweet" as he hits.

I circled back to see if he was stunned and laying in the street where he might get run over by a car, but he was already gone.

After a flurry of feathers and crashing of tree branches, my wife spotted a gray flash ascend into a nearby pine tree. I was able to get my camera and capture this video. Can you make out this Cooper's Hawk's prey?

At 9:52 AM today we noticed a fairly large Fire/EMS response in the area. A check of PulsePoint revealed an "Expanded Traffic Collision" just up the street in the area of 4400 Indianola Ave, Columbus, OH.

Engine 19, EMS 17, Medic 13, and Rescue 16 responded. Engine 19 remained on scene for 21 minutes. A car impacted a low retaining wall and bumped a fire hydrant causing a small leak. Damage to the car was significant enough that it was not driveable. CPD 30 responded for the accident report.
