~~ A dragon among humans - pros and cons living on paid health care and food surplus, and its responsibilities ~~

In this, the final instalment of STRIFE: Like A Dragon, Cygnus basically pulls an Apocalypse Weekend - tearing through a bunch of important characters and getting this game all wrapped up. There's one significant roadblock, though, which is the confusing teleporter puzzle that is the Proving Grounds. It's not helped by being a flying, sequence-breaking dragon. Sadly, the NPC that governs the Berserk powerup sidequest didn't work properly on this playthrough either, which was the biggest part of me wanting to do this Guncaster run in the first place.

Now that I've finally got Strife: Like A Dragon finished and uploaded, I'm gonna go into slumber for a while in regards to videos. I've got an Odysee page now, which is the site I've picked as the one that has the least of an impact on video quality, and should generally let me upload whatever I want.

Find the new Channel here:
https://odysee.com/@AschKandor

As of 17th of May 2022, it only has a test upload of a short shitpost, but at first I will slowly begin re-creating most of my music videos and start uploading them there. Every once in a while there should still be some short shittily-edited videogame shitpost, but it'll be a while before I do any more full playthrough series of interesting old games or TC mods. Those will return when I have a more solid schedule.

~~ PENGUINS IN YOUR SUGAR! How to prevent, how to remove! ~~

In this week's episode, Cygnus annihilates The Factory - the location where most of the Crusader enemies are being manufactured. As it so happens, this is also the same general area where The Order converts captured citizens into cybernetic Order soldiers and the mechsuit-wearing Templars.

In the Conversion Chapel, a secret contains Guncaster's extremely OP BFG replacement, the "Old Dreadful" -- a disgustingly powerful Tiberium-powered energy weapon (yes, fucking Tiberium, Cygnus likes hopping between universes a lot), which can even be upgraded to use BLUE Tiberium as an energy source, and in older versions of Guncaster was very very capable of crashing the engine when fired.

Early upload? Yes, early upload. In fact, I'll probably be putting up the final 2 episodes over the next couple of days as well.

In this week's episode, Cygnus enters the Degnin Mines, where The Order are controlling slaves lobotomized with brain-chips to extract the eponymous Degnin Ore: a dangerous material that is both a source of power and a deadly weapon, as it explodes with physical and electromagnetic power.

Before that however, he takes a trip into the catacombs under the Order Commons to kill another alien entity - this time with a fucking tank cannon powered up by QUAD DAMAGE.

Next week, it's Dergen Ted Kaczynski time, where we blow up a factory and halt The Order's unnatural industrialization and cybernetic conversions.

In this week's episode, Cygnus:
- Commits religious persecution by slaughtering the Oracle and his followers (plus all those damn Order soldiers that teleport in)
- Kick an ethereal alien spirit's shit in, using an octuple-barreled shotgun (which appropriately uses 8 shells every shot)
- Raids the derelict remains of the place that *used* to be The Front's home base before he helped their forceful takeover of the castle in Tarnhill, and
- Finally remembers to return to Tarnhill and execute the slimeball who tries to set Cygnus up to be captured by The Order, even completing his quest before murdering him just because he can.

Next week, the Degnin mines, which is like a sewer level but with less water and more electromagnetically exploding ore.

Before doing this week's dirty deed, Cygnus takes a detour into the Fortress' warehouse district to get his hands on what he was told is a new shipment of weaponry. But instead of a 'gun that disintegrates', he finds a huge set of mechanized power armour specifically fitted to the size of a dergen. It has lasers and javelin missiles and orbital strikes, oh my! After a quick mechsuit murder rampage, it's finally time to siege The Bishop's tower and absolutely murderize him in a completely unfair fight.

This week, Cygnus stampedes his way to the Oracle (making sure to skip 80% of the Oracle's level through a secret), before breaking into The Order's castle nearby in the Borderlands. He steals a uniform that's way too small for him and definitely doesn't hide the fact he's a dragon, meets a snarky informant, and finally smashes through the shifting walls of The Order's Security Complex to shutdown their central computing system and steal a map. All of this to prepare for the task of killing The Bishop.

~~ FREE PRESENT! <<Torturing Wizards for Dummies>> sampler! ~~

In this week's episode, Cygnus finally catches up to The Programmer - a bastard techno wazard who's responsible for almost everything happening in Tarnhill in particular. He's also the holder of the first piece of The Sigil - a superweapon of huge significance to The Order.

The Sigil was the most powerful thing in vanilla STRIFE, and was balanced out by sapping your HP as ammunition, as well as having to collect 7 pieces to progressively power it up throughout the game. While it did get Turned Up To 11 like everything else in this mod, it came out the other end so underwhelming compared to everything else that I basically don't touch the fucking thing for the rest of this playthrough. *Especially* because it is no longer the only weapon that can damage Entities - which we'll see the first of very soon.

~~ New recipes for armour-wrapped baked knights - now with gluten-free option! ~~

In this week's episode, Cygnus goes through what I consider the most fun part of STRIFE as a whole: He storms into The Order's stronghold outside Tarnhill and decimates pretty much the entire complex in order to hunt down The Programmer - a filthy goddamn Wazard. But first, he's going to run an assault course in a side-dungeon of the stronghold to get a Health + Mana buff.

This map is one of the best combat experiences in the entire base game OR the mod in my opinion, finally letting the player truly unfurl their wings and their quad-jumping and gliding abilities to properly rain down gunfire and magic on a castleful of enemies. I fucked around reloading the 'Practice' save like 4 times to keep redoing that main combat zone because it's so fun.

~~ The latest travel hit - the CATNIP DIMENSION! How to prepare and get back with the funkiest loot ever ~~

In this week's episode, Cygnus goes for an extremely long swim. In shit. And piss. Toxic enough to cause damage. With a bunch of fucking drones. And then within about two minutes of getting OUT of all the shit and piss, he has to jump right back in again. All of this in service of getting in the rear of The Order's fortress just outside Tarnhill, and shutting down the main entrance forcefield for an assault. Apologies for this one being as long as it is; the Fortress Sewers are a literal bullshit maze that even 20 years down the line I still can't navigate reliably.

But hey, at least that mutie Weran provides parts for a nice new Augur railgun that becomes a panic-button of the rest of this series, which we'll get to see a whole lot of action with next episode in particular.

Yet another late upload, but this time I have an excuse - I've had to be isolated for a week due to my niece getting the Coof and that's fucked up my entire sense of time and my ability to schedule. Also, still playing more Elden Ring.

Today's Developer Meme:
~~ New recipes for armour-wrapped baked knights - now with gluten-free option! ~~

In this week's episode, Cygnus repeatedly ignores ongoing NPC voice lines in order to zoom through blowing up The Order's power plant in Tarnhill as fast as possible. Despite all of his arsenal being weapons of mass destruction and having LITERAL WINGS, it's still a time-consuming process, and his Chaingun causes massive framerate issues if fired for longer than two seconds in a single burst. But hey, at least he gets his hands on a tank cannon and it does a good job of making the powerplant's central Crystal go boom.

In this week's episode, Cygnus the Dergen appears within the town of Tarnhill - we're not sure how, when, or why - and he cracks his knuckles and gets to murdering red stormtroopers. This episode covers getting scouted by The Front (the rebels), doing a quick job for the Mayor, and breaking civilians and Front members out of Tarnhill prison.

Time to finally start uploading a series I've been swearing I would finish for about 4 years now. For about the next 11 weeks, we're going to see a playthrough of the game that does not respect intended progression, balance, watchable framerates, or anyone's voice lines. No Secret timestamps or 100% Completionism, just an extended shitpost of a playthrough.

I highly recommend anyone do a 'vanilla' Strife: Veteran Edition run themselves, because Strife is a nice twist on the DOOM formula - it's not truly non-linear, but it does have a handful of story paths and the *feeling* of exploratory freedom.
Then do a Like A Dragon run, because the specific randomization elements it has means you'll have your own experience.

Finally, the very last level of Ashes 2063/Enriched Edition. Here we get a lot of tension, nice low-fi synth music, and a slow burn up to the boss fight that caps the "Episode" off. The paragraphs of text here exist for a reason though - it helps set up Athena as a character for Ashes: Afterglow, and has a few breadcrumbs of intrigue that will make sense if you play Afterglow and come back to this.

Next week, I'll start uploading my 11-part series of STRIFE: Like A Dragon, a very messy and chaotic playthrough of STRIFE: Veteran Edition with the Guncaster mod applied, with all the stupid over the top movement options and framerate-murdering-minigun fun you could want. Also a big fucking railgun. And a giant mech suit. And a Tiberium BFG that has the potential to crash the game.

~~Timestamps For Secrets~~

†: "Secrets" that don't count towards the Secret%, but might affect the Items%.

NOTE: The major secret of this level is hidden in "dialogue" with a computer.

02:22 -- To get an ID printed out (the Blue Keycard) for getting into the Medbay Secret, use the Terminal. Cancel the shutdown, go into Personal/Security [sic], Search the Personnel Database, look in Folder Options, and then just keep hitting 1 until you get the Keycard. The Dialogue option order from first interaction should be 1-1-2-3-3-1-1-1-1 (if you ignore deactivating the sirens).

05:36 -- In the room with the Red Keycard, look for a small green switch on a reel-computer stack. It opens up the vent next to it, letting you get at some MasterBlaster fuel and Light Bullets.

†11:51 -- After getting the Yellow Keycard from Athena, don't forget to stop by the Armoury before you . I believe the Backpack in there counts towards the Item%, and it's possible the Metal Armour or Portable Medkit might as well.

†12:51 -- The Portable Medkit right next to the switch that opens the boss door counts towards the Item%, and should be the last item for the counter.

Whoops, I forgot to upload yesterday because I was busy on Elden Ring. Also, this is another video that had to be down-rendered to a lower bitrate (about 8K from 10K) to fit under the 2GB limit.

Ashes 2063's penultimate map is a lot more vertical than previous ones: there's some clambering up and down cliffs, climbing buildings, and even a wee section in a sideways skyscraper. I enjoy this one about as much as MAP05, but doesn't have that authentic spoopy dungeon atmosphere - something the final level DOES have in spades.

08:57 -- The City Start

~~Timestamps For Secrets~~

†: "Secrets" that don't count towards the Secret%, but might affect the Items%.

NOTE: There are no secrets in Terminus, and thankfully the BugDog in the fight pit doesn't count towards kills anymore.

12:42 -- In the Bandit Den, check behind the downstairs counter for a tiny button that opens the room nearby.

14:20 -- Also in the Den, get behind a weirdly-angled set of shelves. Behind them is a secret Purge Stim.

18:36 -- In the WarMart office full of mutants, head to the far end of the room and through a pair of brown double-doors. A model of a skyscraper sits on a large desk, and embedded in it is a red button that opens a nearby secret, containing ammo production machines.

19:50 -- Out on the rooftop after the WarMart office, run across the huge billboard and into a window for the last secret.

Yeah I've been playing the thing everyone's playing.
Yeah I've been having the same performance issues everyone's been having.
Yeah I'm still fucking playing it regardless.
This is like Skyrim or Breath Of The Wild but actually good.

Two more ASHES ENRICHED videos, then I'll start editing and uploading Strife: Like A Dragon.

Temple Of The Dollar is one of the top-tier levels of Ashes 2063, more or less creating a trifecta between MAP04, MAP05, and this. It's a big fuckoff realistic location with some actually challenging fights, interesting surprises, and one fucking pain in the ass secret. Originally, the final secret to get at the Sawed-Off Shotgun was a LOT harder to see, but in Enriched Edition the texture has changed and so where you need to look is more obvious.

~~Timestamps For Secrets~~

†: "Secrets" that don't count towards the Secret%, but might affect the Items%.

04:30 -- In the videogame store, hop over the counter and look at the shelving against the wall. there's a small grey switch that blends in with the boxes, and opens the door beside you for a Cacodemon collectible.

06:10 -- In the Projection Room of the theatre, use the wall with a badly torn Mad Max poster. It'll open to reveal armour fragments, a medkit, and a Doom easter egg.

12:20 -- In the kitchen where the Yellow Access Card is, look around for a bench that has the slightest hints of bloody pixels across the lip. Use this bench to open the vent above for a First Aid Kit you probably really need.

16:55 -- After turning on the power and opening up the stores in the mall, look for a store in the room where you entered. It has several units of Junk lying around, but more importantly you can use the cash register to open up the store next door for a secret.

Finally, for the Sawed-Off Shotgun secret:
Look around in the first large area for a gym called the Hot House (17:25-17:30). Fight to the Locker Room at the back, and press use on a weirdly-textured locker (18:09). Use the switch inside, and then head back udnerwater to the very beginning of the level. Not far from where you surface, you'll find a garage door now opened, and inside is the Sawed-Off sitting on a Doom-ified version of Max's Interceptor.

This is the one lads. This *would* have been my favourite level of Ashes: 2063 but for one thing; In the original version, you could not get a Triple-100 on this level, as you'd either have to miss out on the Secret Exit, OR miss out on the final big battle and the last of the Enemies and Items. This has been fixed now, which was the catalyst behind this entire recording of the Enriched Edition playthrough. The twinge in the soul remains however, at remembering The Time Before.

~~Timestamps For Secrets~~

†: "Secrets" that don't count towards the Secret%, but might affect the Items%.

07:36 -- After flicking the switch that releases the Mutants into the station, return back to the stairs that led from the homeless man down into the station. A newly-opened shutter reveals a bugdog guarding a Secret room, AND-

07:47 -- A secret-within-a-secret, opened by flicking a switch hidden behind the weirdly out of place curtain. The grating behind the couch opens up to bare some light ammo, food, and an Area Map.

†08:13 -- The long train that leads to a side-path contains two Junk items that may count towards Item%.

09:32 -- After dealing with the mutants and bugdogs on the side route, look for a breakable vent. This leads to a comfy room with a Collectible Guitar (big junk) and some goodies.

09:58 -- In the nasty-ass brown brick sewer room before the Power room, jump to a thin ledge at middle-height. Follow it around for a Secret room with a Backpack, which gives a little of every ammo type and increases Capacities.

NOTE: Take care in the "Red Key Room" and the "Yellow Key Room". Both these areas have floater enemies that can take a long time to enter the room, so it is easy to miss some enemies by accident. Additionally, the Yellow Key Room has severe radiation, making it risky to hang around for the enemies or to get the new secret:

17:23 -- I believe this secret is new: in the Yellow Key Room, do some platforming to get to a high-up little tunnel. The Secret here is a Planet Of The Apes reference and contains a jackhammer, some ammo, a Brute Stim, and a nice little battle.

20:05 -- A vent above the soda machine can be broken and jumped into from higher elevations. It contains metal armour, a little shotgun ammo, and can open a door that adds some more tactical options in the combat encounter here.

†21:17 -- Not marked as a secret itself, but turning the GAS handle at the end of this hallway is what allows access to the Secret Exit.

30:28 -- The final Secret is just after the gas explosion, in the form of some junk, ammo, and pills next to a corpse. The jump down at the end of this hallway is a Point of No Return to the Secret Exit, so for full completion, go back and take the "normal" exit route. You'll be allowed to return later and take the Secret Exit.

My personal favourite map of Ashes: 2063, Highway Holocaust is a massive map that kinda represents all the best things of 2063 in one go: feelings of exploration, good area design and detail, challenging combat situations, memes, and really good music. It also helps that Enriched Edition gave motorbike control an overhaul.

We're headed into the nearby city, which requires going through a flooded train station. Barrett's Bandits have already left ahead of us though, and the level is spent catching up to (and aggressively dealing with) truckfuls of them.

~~Timestamps For Secrets~~

†: "Secrets" that don't count towards the Secret%, but might affect the Items%.

01:30 -- Climb into the front truck of the first Convoy for Secret Leather Armor and 2 junk items.

†04:35 -- Hop from the gas station roof to a tall dumpster 'Non-Secret' for armor shards and a bottle of painkillers.

04:55 -- Return to the roof and hop into a hole for a secret and a difficult fight. Nets armor shards, junk, and shotgun ammo.

10:10 -- Hop from an open toilet stall into the locked one for a secret portable medkit and a very pixellated nudie pic.

14:31 -- Take the silver key from the flooded room with the SMG, and head to the Evidence Room. This counts as a secret, containing a Regen Stim and some boxes that may/may not contain junk.

15:45 -- In the room past the pit at the end of the river, use the bookshelf to open a room with 3 pipebombs and some bugdogs.

16:57 -- In the bandit stronghold (the library) look closely for a red switch in a bookcase. This reveals a Brute Stim.

†18:50 -- There's a single cardboard box at the end of the river where you first entered the city. I'm unsure if this counts towards Item%, and it may only count to % if you break the box and the Junk spawns. Either way, one guaranteed Junk item.

In Enriched Edition, The Wall gets a small overhaul that now allows you to embark on a sidequest. This takes you to a new map, 'Those Dam Raiders' - an absolute fucking slugfest with some brutal fights. I had no idea that DAM1 had been added, so this video is literally my first time discovering it and playing through, so it's a bit rough and has some boring filler as I hunt down the one secret. In MAP02, we don't get to use the motorbike we saw. Instead, we get to meet the cannibal mutants. For now, these guys basically just seem like Pinky replacements with tamed Imp replacements, but in Ashes: Afterglow we'll learn that Mutants are a much bigger threat than anyone realised.

†06:50 -- In the diner kitchen, open the gray shutter, as it contains Food.

Ashes: Enriched Edition, MAP01: Outskirts [100% Completion, Apocalypse, No Commentary]

Welcome to my Triple-100 run of Ashes: Enriched Edition. I was waiting for something like this for a long time, but almost didn't think we'd get it -- a "remaster" of sorts of the utterly amazing Ashes 2063 TC for DOOM. What's a Triple-100 run? 100% Kills, 100% Items, and 100% Secrets. And I'm doing it on the riskiest difficulty, Apocalypse.

There's a few good changes here like updated assets and art, better motorbike handling, new secrets, and a new level, but MOST importantly to me, MAP05 got reworked so that the secret exit can be reached AND it's still possible to get 100% Items. I found Enriched Edition by chance one night and I was so excited, I recorded a huge chunk of this playthrough in a single sitting.

Today, we're doing something a little ambitious. I felt like ripping some art from Ashes: Enriched Edition to use as wallpapers, and decided to take all the music while I was there.
Five hours; some renamed files, some added metadata, some searching around for old gameplay videos for specific referencing, one text document, a MEGA upload, a shitload of OGGs imported into Audacity and exported as MP3s, a bunch of Premiere Pro tinkering, and a custom thumbnail using the mod's own Font PNGs later:
I present to you the entirety of the Ashes: Enriched Edition OST in all its glory. Straight from the PK3 to your ears. If you enjoy it, scroll down the description to find a download link from my MEGA that contains all the OGGs in a slightly better audio quality than is in this video, as well as a link to my playlist of all things Game OST-related.

It's been a very very long year, and here we are: Part 2 of E3M9, the very end of the story available so far in The AMC TC. I enjoy the story revelations, I enjoy the Beyonders showing up finally (ignore that secret one in Zeta Base), and I enjoy who the final boss is. Not the actual fight itself, just the twist.

As an update: Couldn't figure out why the sidequest NPC in Strife won't work properly, can't *get* it to work properly, so I just finished the original run. From next week I'll be uploading the ASHES: ENRICHED videos of which there are 10, and then after that will be Strife As A Dragon of which it looks like there'll be 11 parts. In between I'll be uploading music-related stuff if I make a discovery or something in particular catches my ear.

Welcome to Part 1 of the last Mission currently available in The AMC TC's storyline. To be honest, I remembered enjoying these levels a lot more, perhaps because they were fresh and the suprises were interesting on first playthrough. But now, as with many (but not all) of the levels made by Snowfall, they feel really unnecessarily long.

Also, I've given a handy timestamp to skip the elevator puzzle. I have no idea why, but my brain refused to work for several minutes.

01:00 -- VR Start
12:04 -- Skip the painful puzzle footage
13:44 -- WAKING Start

I had been meaning to re-record this and get rid of all the pain, but I got caught up in playing Ashes Afterglow, recording the Ashes Enriched 100% Playthrough, AND practising and recording parts of Strife: Veteran Edition as a Dragon. Speaking of S:VED, I've had a bug that's stopped a side quest from triggering. I'm unsure if this is part of The Guncaster being applied, but I'm going to have to start a "second slot" and re-play through up to the Order Commons to hope the bug doesn't happen again.

I am the same. My videos and shitposts *will be* the same.
Just new profile picture.

I have a particular interest in Boomer Shooters, their mods, and the wave of Retro Shooters that have been coming out since 2018, but I get into all sorts of genres, and what I record is mostly just limited by my GPU. If I find out a game has come out that's fast-paced, aggressive, has banger music and middling Requirements, expect at least one video from me showing it off as soon as it's on the seven seas.

I record No-Commentary videos -- the gameplay and the mood of a game always comes first over whatever bullshit I could possibly babble over the top of it. I do episodic playthroughs, small exhibition videos, and upload mixes, re-renders, and rips of old videogame music.

If you're looking for my music uploads, follow this link to my Music Playlist (which I can't make easily accessible just from my channel's landing page, it seems):

Songs are available from MEGA.NZ links in their descriptions.

Usually try to upload once or twice a week assuming I don't have drastic things going on IRL, and occasionally put out bonus videos when I discover something so amazing, fun, or silly that it inspires me to record.
