College Football Hall of Fame running back Reggie Bush was reinstated as the 2005 Heisman Trophy winner. He was given this honor in 2005 after an illustrious three years at the University of Southern California (USC). The award was taken away in 2010 after an extensive investigation into USC. Then-coach Pete Carroll was essentially run out of Los Angeles and at least one staff member was fired.

Critics of the decision to strip Bush of the trophy include fellow Heisman winner Johnny Manziel. The former Texas A&M two-time trophy winner has openly admitted to receiving money improperly. There was never an investigation into the University nor a stripping of the trophy from Manziel. Since Manziel is white and Bush is black, this became sort of a racial thing in the eyes of many.

In today's college athletics, it is okay to pay the athletes, and this is done primarily through a system called Name, Image, Likeness (NIL). Ths current landscape of college athletics prompted the NCAA to restore Reggie Bush's trophy. Bush responded to the news by thanking everyone who believed in him instead of salacious media headlines over the years.

Harvey Weinstein's 2020 "Me Too" case has been overturned by the New York Court of Appeals. The landmark case was ultimately deemed full of errors and improperly adjudicated by the sitting judge. Witnesses who allege Harvey Weinstein had done improper things to them in the past were allowed to testify to shape a negative image of Weinstein. These women, however, did not have information on the specific case in which Weinstein was convicted. This was ruled to be an improper practice. Weinstein, age 72, remains in prison due to another conviction of sexual assault in California. The California conviction carries a 16-year sentence.

Tennessee's State Government has passed a bill that would allow some teachers to carry guns in the classroom. The Tennessee House and Senate have approved it. The last step is for Governor Bill Lee to sign off on it. When the bill becomes law, teachers who wish to volunteer for the program must sign up, gain approval, and undergo 40 hours of firearms training.

Some people, including the Tennessee Three, do not like this bill. They went viral after two of them were expelled from the House last year for staging an anti-gun protest in Nashville. Both men, Justin Jones and Justin Pearson were ultimately reinstated to the Tennessee State Government. At least one of the men staged a "die-in" at the Capitol on the heels of this bill passing as it awaits Bill Lee's signature.

Sports media personality Stephen A. Smith has apologized for defending President Donald Trump during an appearance on Fox News with Sean Hannity. The longtime ESPN on-air talent was speaking about the comments Trump made a few weeks ago regarding his civil and criminal proceedings. Trump stated that the black community could relate to him due to their history in America. Stephen A. concurred and said that Trump was not lying about that. And, of course, Stephen A. got a ton of kickback for those comments from friends, family, colleagues, and organizations such as the NAACP. Walmart has removed all self-checkout lanes from two more stores, one in St. Louis, Missouri, and another in Cleveland, Ohio. This latest move comes after Walmart removed all self-checkout lanes from three New Mexico locations. An official statement from the retail giant says this was done after feedback from customers and employees. Local shopping patterns were also taken into consideration.

This could, however, be something else that Walmart is not speaking about publicly. Retail theft is rising, and self-checkout locations are perfect for stealing small items. Walmart may be removing self-checkouts and replacing them with traditional checkout lanes because the cost for a cashier may be cheaper than self-checkout theft. Target, Dollar General and other retail stores are probably altering or eliminating self-checkout lanes for the same purpose.

Singer John Legend said that President Donald Trump has always been a racist during an interview on MSNBC with Katy Tur. The context of the interview was criminal justice reform, a cause that Legend says he is passionate about. He spoke with Tur about his efforts to increase awareness for "pretrial freedom," or what is commonly known as bail reform.

Katy Tur asked the "All Of Me" singer about Donald Trump's "First Step Act" due to the law's role in freeing thousands of incarcerated people. Legend dismissed the act as small and not wide-ranging enough because it does not affect crimes on the city and state levels. He then went on to say that Trump is a "dyed in the wool" racist, going back as far as the 1970s. Such a statement is bold to make, especially without sufficient evidence.

Pro-Palestine protests at Columbia, Yale, and other colleges have devolved into chaos and violence over the past few days. Ilhan Omar's daughter, Isra Hirsi, is one of over one hundred people arrested at Columbia University in New York City. In a post on Twitter, Ilhan Omar said she is proud of her daughter for practicing her freedom of speech. Several Jewish students and professors were victims of violence and outright racism from protesters on the ground.

One Jewish student was attacked by some of the protesters after she was hit in the eye with a flag pole adorned with a Palestinian flag. A Jewish professor at Columbia says he was banned from the campus alongside other Jews. Such behavior has been encouraged by the left over the past few years as many of the scenes echo Black Lives Matter and ANTIFA protests that sparked off against then-President Trump and episodes of alleged police brutality.

37-year-old Max Azzarello set himself on fire outside of Donald Trump's NYC "hush money" trial. The St. Augustine, Florida, man did not pass away on the scene. He succumbed to his injuries hours later in a hospital. Friends and family of Azzarello say that he struggled with mental issues and echoed wild "conspiracy theories" in recent years. He did not appear political, as he criticized Democrats and Republicans in a lengthy, scathing manifesto published to his Substack. The reason for the self-immolation event that ultimately took his life was to bring awareness to a myriad of things, most notably the issue of cryptocurrency as a Ponzi scheme.

NPR Senior Business Editor Uri Berliner resigned after 25 years at the company after being suspended for five days. The suspension occurred after he published an essay on the website criticizing the company, reportedly without the proper permission. The purpose of Berliner's essay was to expose the far-left liberal nature of the company and the lack of diversity. Berliner did not refer to racial or ethnic diversity as an issue; instead, he wrote about the lack of intellectual diversity.

Everyone in a decision-making capacity at the company is a leftist, without exception. People on the outside looking in knew this before reading Berliner's piece. All that he did was confirm it. Berliner's resignation comes on the heels of a new CEO, Katherine Maher, being onboarded. Berliner says he cannot continue to work for a company with such a bias under new leadership who had evident bias before she stepped one foot into NPR's doors.

The NBA banned Jontay Porter for life after an investigation revealed that the fringe player was involved in improper sports betting. Porter bet on NBA games while he was playing in the G-League, which is the NBA's farm league. Suspicions about Porter arose from the betting world. There was an abnormal number of bets for the "under" on Jontay Porter on an ever-increasing basis. One bet that stood out was placed for about $80,000, which resulted in a payout of over $1.1 million. Video evidence shows that Porter did things in the game to make "parlays" (bets) hit.

Such a dramatic punishment against Porter was most likely done to satisfy two issues. The first is to send a message to other NBA players. If this type of thing were to become a pattern, it would ruin the multi-billion-dollar sports betting industry and the integrity of the game. The ban sends a message to the general public as well. If viewers think that games are somehow rigged or the outcome can be predetermined because of the financial goals of one or more players, then confidence in the game's authenticity is ruined.
