The book of Genesis in the Bible contains the account of beings known as the Nephilim, also called Giants. These were the legendary heroic characters of the ancient world, the offspring of the union between the sons of God and the daughters of men.

Today there is much speculation among Christians about the origin of the Nephilim. Who were these ancient legendary sons of God? Were they simply human beings, or could they have had a demonic origin, could they have been the hybrid offspring of the union between human women and fallen angels?

Something that should never happen to God’s people happened to the ancient nation of Israel. The nation crumbled as it turned from God, and all people, rich and poor alike, became enslaved under Babylonian power. This was a time when all hope for the people appeared to be lost.

Looking at the world today we can see that the majority of people tolerate and accept whatever is presented to them, calling good evil and evil good. Christians are spiritual Israel, the spiritual descendants of Abraham. Could spiritual Israel today be repeating the history of literal ancient Israel? Even if you do not believe in God, you can surely see that the world is on a downward spiral. Our freedoms are being increasingly taken away, and things we would never have even thought possible just a few short years ago are becoming commonplace and we are told that we must accept them. How has this happened? What is the cause?

In this presentation we will look at why such evils are now dominating our world, affecting our lives and the lives of our children and grandchildren. Something sinister is at work and our only hope is to recognise what this is.

Could it be that the ancient pagan gods worshipped in the past, gods like Baal and Ashtoreth, are receiving worship again today? In the time of the prophet Elijah there was a famine throughout the land of Israel, this famine was caused by the people turning from the true God to the worship of false gods. Elijah's divinely appointed mission was to call the people to repent and turn from their idolatry.

Centuries later, John the Baptist came in the spirit of Elijah to prepare the way for the first advent of the Messiah and to call the people to repentance.

Today, once again, there is a spiritual famine throughout the land and like Elijah and John the Baptist we too must go forward in the spirit of Elijah to prepare for the Messiah’s second coming and prepare a people to meet their God.

The majority of Christians go to church on Sunday believing this to be the day that God would have them worship on as His holy day. In part 2 of this 3-part series we examine the present drive for ecumenism, the uniting of all religions. Roman Catholicism is now regarded by Protestants with far greater favour than in former years. In Revelation chapter 13 the apostle John in vision describes seeing two beasts, one coming up from the sea and another coming up from the earth, one represents a predator, the other a gentle creature. Who or what do these two beasts symbolise? What vital role do they play in Bible prophecy? Do these two beasts exist in the world today and can they be identified?
