With so much attention on preparedness for the future and emergencies, what about the right here and now? Are there things you can do to survive your current environment. Squirrel Bait says " You bet!".

I grew up on the west side of Syracuse, NY. I did not grow up in an affluent neighborhood by any means. Not complaining mind you, but I had to know how to handle myself. Syracuse is a rough place. It was when I was a kid too. In this video, I share with you what I learned in my life about reducing the odds of becoming a target of crime. To do this, I have to tell you a few details about me and my childhood. I chose a more relaxed chatty setting for this one. It just seemed appropriate rather than a "seminar/talk" style video. Enjoy!

Well Dad is back with his modification complete. He’s going to rest up and then start his county wide migration all over again. I expect him to be gone for quite some time. Perhaps until spring. In this video we take a look at the rear bumper storage rack he made.

Thanks for watching!

As you know, your Bug Out Bag is your lifeline. A friend of mine asked me why I chose the bag I did. I thought this would make a great video. There are already tons of info out there on bag options and factors to consider. In this video, I tell you about the bag I chose and why I chose it. My needs, abilities and expectations may be different from yours so I am not saying do what I do. I did think, however, my reasons may point out some practical features to be considered. I have tested this bag and was thrilled with the results. It's very manageable in rough terrain, crossing creeks and rivers, and hours of hiking in the Adirondacks. It's like it was made just for me. Score!

Thank you for watching and enjoy!

I may have mentioned to you before, Dad’s retired and travels the country in his home made camper truck. He sold his house and is what we call voluntarily homeless. Having the time of his life too. Well, he uses my place as a base. He was out and about for about 7 months and he stayed a week and is off to see my sister and then my brother before circling back around and starting all over again. He does what he wants when he wants and goes anywhere he wants. He stays at campgrounds sometimes but he mostly travels from BLM land to BLM land across the Midwest and West just living and enjoying nature and freedom.

I would interview him but he’s camera shy and didn’t feel comfortable doing one off camera. That’s okay. He’s a hermit at heart.

Here’s some footage of his camper truck. He installed some cabinets while here to make things easier for himself. He wants to add on a storage platform on the back and plans on doing that while visiting my brother in Syracuse, NY. He should be there about 2-3 weeks or so. When He rolls back in here, I’ll film it for you.

Thanks for watching!

Hey everyone, I was in a silly mood and made a very short comedy video. Squirrel Bait in Space!!! Well, a childish version thereof. Like a ten year old, I grabbed some props and a sheet and started filming. Can’t be serious all the time and laughter is good for the soul.

Enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bugging out is not camping or long distance hiking. You will be constantly on the move, careful to avoid as many people as possible, until you reach your destination. There will be a lot of running, ducking, hiding, lack of sleep and just trying to remain unnoticed in general. Your pack feels heavier by the hour.

Cooking will not be an option most of the time because a fire will give you away. Dakota holes take time and you are on the run. Food odor will lead hungry people and animals right to you even if you’re not cooking. A packet of tuna for example. Light weight but what an odor, right? I see many people online talking about this as a great item to pack along with dried instant meals. What about the smelly package? Trash should be buried as to not reveal your activity. Someone will come along behind you and track you because you clearly have supplies. No time to stop and bury trash on the run.

I like ziplock bags. I can use them later in a variety of ways and my staple bugging food is oatmeal. Very lightweight, no odor, and I can soak some in a container in my pocket or pack and eat it on the go. No cooking needed and no odor cold. It will get me by as I snack from the wild until I get to where I’m going. I have other light weight low odor items as well but I can haul A LOT of oatmeal without getting too weighed down. This way I will have food left as I get my new home established.

Remember……weight and odor when you choose your bugging out food. You have a better chance of reaching your destination.

When is it time to leave? What happens if you wait too late? What if you and your loved ones are not in agreement?

Have you discussed your thresholds with your family? That is, what does it take for you to pack up and go? I recommend you have these discussions with your family and/or group. Unless you live alone, being a unified front is critical. There are different types of Bug Outs. Which option is appropriate and when? Arguing before and during an evacuation can lead to dire consequences. Discussions such as these are part of preparedness. My husband and I engage in these scenario discussions whenever there is a new variable to consider.

I start off this video with one of my little skits to illustrate and, well, have a little fun. Enjoy!

Thanks for watching!

Dad and I went for our morning walk around the neighborhood. We went the other direction this time. About four blocks away we saw a neighborhood street with household belongings piled up on the curb. As we walked down the street, I pulled out my camera. WOW! I had no idea the water this far from the river was deep enough that people are throwing away televisions.

I decided to make this video so those who are inclined to do so, may donate to the local charities. Des Moines metro itself I heard was worse as all the water from our area flows in that direction. I am so glad everyone is okay. Many people, I’m sure, were asleep as all this peaked around 1 am or so. Just imagine that! Being half asleep as the water is flowing into your home. All afternoon, there wasn’t any concern about flooding.

I was watching an old Doctor Who episode online when I just had a feeling that I better check the local news. That was around 11 pm. Most people are already in bed by then. My husband retired for the evening and I went and got him up. Streets around me were being specifically mentioned as being included in a “Flood Emergency”. We turned on the television and started to assess the situation. Imagine if these folks didn’t know what was going on. Stuff is replaceable. People are not!

Thanks for watching.

It is the morning of 07/01/18. We had record flooding here in Clive and the metro (Des Moines) area late last night. We were already saturated from a week of rain with many rivers and streams swollen throughout central Iowa. Well, we had a large storm system blow through here yesterday afternoon til evening and it just caused a mess. Around 11pm last night, a flood emergency was declared prompting neighborhood evacuations and mobilization of every agency in the area. Cars were stranded in the flood water and more rain was on the way. They did a fantastic job! I was impressed. They anticipated which areas will be affected and swooped in with road closures, sandbags, evacuations, the works. Everyone worked as an efficient team. All in all there was only one loss of life.

Neighborhoods around us were evacuated and streets just a block away were closed. We are on a hill so we were safe. We were prepared to move our cars up the road to get them out of the parking lot, however. We kept an eye of the situation until about 2am or so. We do not have personal experience with flooding so this was a new experience for us. I, of course, took it as a practice opportunity. I made sure we were all set to go if needed regardless of how safe we thought we were. That's just me.

In this video, I take you only about a block from my home. This is the aftermath in my neighborhood and it's an improvement from last night. I couldn't film in the pouring rain nor was it safe to be out last night. I show you the same river before in embedded pictures so you can see the drastic change. This is that same river I filmed my Mother's and Father's Day videos! Ya know, the one the bike path follows so I had some before pictures from walking the path. The news last night said all previous flood records were broken. The metro area was much worse so just picture that while watching the video.

Thanks for watching!

I always carry my walking stick with me when I go out in the woods. Every time! No matter what I plan to do out there or how far from the car I plan to go or what kind of terrain I expect. Why? Because I find my walking stick the handiest tool I carry with me.

In this video, I tell you what I use and show you all the different ways you can use a walking stick. Can you think of any more? A tarp pole perhaps.

I spend A LOT of time online and so, like many of you, have noticed the drastic increase in chatter about a civil war here in America. Now, those of us awake and paying attention, know that divide and conquer is the name of the globalist game. They can’t get the populace to submit to their one world socialist government plan so they have to force the issue. This is the reason behind all the censorship by the way. Anyway, back to this divide and conquer strategy. Naturally, they want one side to force the other side into compliance. Well, why do we have to pick sides? Can’t we just say, “Get stuffed. I’m just trying to raise my family and get through life the best I can? If you want to force my neighbor to agree with me rather than convince them with reason and logic, then do it yourself. “ Come on! Make these Yobos do their own dirty work! But no. People are getting all worked up talking about fighting their neighbors.

No, Squirrel Bait, they’re talking about fighting groups. Wake up! Soros, that undead ghoulish troll in my opinion, is salivating at the thought of us turning on one another in violence. He funds all this crap! Our elected officials who work for the UN and NOT for us are pushing and pushing false narratives to incite violence in the streets. The people in the streets ARE your neighbors people! The MSM covers it endlessly until we think this is normal. The shills all say this “civil war” had already started and you better get ready. You are literally being manipulated into seeing your neighbors as enemies. They are messing with your perspective. I can’t believe how many people I am seeing online falling for this crap.

So, am I to understand that just because someone opens their corrupt evil mouth and says something, we are all supposed to just obey? Not view this individual as treasonous and demand they step down as they clearly are inciting violence against members of their own constituency. Oh no! We are to think this is a goo..

Not that long ago I was told by someone that either I am for progress or I believe in practically living in the barbaric stone age. This is an attitude I have seen online as well. In fact, I see it as a narrative to use when someone asks any questions about our “progress”. As a society we HAVE made good progress for the general public. As an American, I am proud of it. We have opportunities and advantages we never had before. However, currently progress hasn’t been liberating or advantageous to the general public. If you ask questions about anything you are called names and demonized.

Since when is it wrong to want to be informed or have an opinion? Don’t we all want what’s best for our communities? Since when do we end friendships and denounce our family over opinions? Ya know, Intellectual Freedom? When did respect for one another go out the window? I thought we were supposed to embrace diversity? Perhaps the word diversity only contains half its meaning. You may be diverse as long as you get with the current pushed program?

I can’t say this enough. Ask questions. Do your homework. Know what your consenting to before you do. Think about what your told and exposed to. Think for yourself. I seriously can’t stress this enough. Progress or peril, the choice should be and is ours.

In this video I talk about this in my usual manner. Well, I added a tin foil hat. No surprise, right? I might keep it as a regular prop honestly. The more I discuss the choices we will be forced to make in the not too distant future, the more people will be expecting me to wear it.

In this video I demonstrate two ways one can react to an emergency situation. I offer tips on how to stay calm during an unexpected event with the best advice, in my opinion, at the end. It’s a form of training really that I really believe is why I handle threat and danger the way I do. I also talk about one of my experiences dealing with that instant fear when confronted with a situation and how I handled it. Your mental and emotion prepping is just as important as your physical preps! If you panic or freeze, all of your hard work won’t help you.

Thanks for watching and enjoy!

All your preps and stealth techniques won’t do you any good if you crack up once you’re safe and settled in somewhere. If the isolation gets to you and you succumb to depression, it was all for nothing. Once you finally make it, you need to figure out how to keep it together. I recommend having some solid ideas ahead of time on how to meet your emotional and mental needs. In this video, I give my thoughts on this matter. Feel free to leave comments below with your thoughts.

Firewood does not have to be pretty or perfect. The fire pit or fireplace size you create is what matters. I make mine rectangular shaped. It makes gathering wood easier and I can cook on a stone over half of it. It’s just more versatile for me. More importantly, I can accommodate longer pieces of wood. I save my tools for jobs I can’t do any other way. In a bugged out situation, why dull your tools right away and have to search for the right kind of rock to sharpen them? Let them last as long as you can.

In this video I share ways to break down branches without tools. Especially, those thick ones you can’t just step on. I show you how to use the trees to break these stubborn branches rather than break out a tool. The woods are a resource. You will hear me say that often. They provide built in tools!

My Dad spent A LOT of time with me out in the woods teaching me the ropes. He taught me to be an independent thinker and stand up for what I believe in. He also, thankfully, taught me about respect and honor. My determination and fire comes from him. He taught me everything I share with you in my videos actually. I hope you find as much value in his lessons as I do.

Thanks Dad and Happy Father’s Day!

Devil’s breath (scopolamine). The free-will removing drug. Powder is blown into the victim’s face creating a zombie-like highly suggestible state. The victim will literally do whatever they are told. Well, the victims who are not killed by it. In this video, I introduce you to the existence of this powerful substance and, of course, ask a few questions.

The new terms of use agreements coming in from just about all the major tech companies the last month are a big deal. I’m all for the free market and that’s just not the case here. If you want to use your computer, you must use their products. There is no competitor to turn to. This is control. Pure and simple. How can we as hard-working folks, let these corporations run, control, and dictate our lives? There are approximately 320 million people in this country. Shouldn’t WE decide how we speak, dress, communicate, live, etc? These companies are supposed to be providing a service not being our overlords.

When these companies send you their “terms”. I urge you to take the time to read them. They are indeed Terms. Know the demands these aggressors have. We are being preyed on people.

Once your voice silenced. Once gathering is illegal mischief. As soon as you are no longer free to use goods and services, you know, free to take part in society. It’s over. You are imprisoned. And I am telling you, the walls are closing in.

I tell ya, the wonders of ginger. Nausea relief and an anti-inflammatory. The cause of most aches and pains is inflammation. I think this root was created just for me. I use candied ginger for migraine associated nausea. Works great! It’s my “go to” for colds and flu as well. The method I use is below for you. Try it! Thank you so much for watching.

Recipe:
1/2 pound fresh ginger
1/2 cup sugar
Peel the ginger and cut it into the thinnest possible slices. Place the slices in a medium pot and cover with enough water to submerge them. Bring to a boil, then turn the heat down and simmer until tender. You’re trying to soften them not really cook them. The slices will be a deeper shade of yellow and be kinda rubbery. Drain but reserve about ¼ cup of the “ginger water”.

Return the ginger to the pot along with the reserved cooking liquid and the sugar. Bring to a boil again then turn the heat down and simmer the ginger, stirring frequently, until the liquid has evaporated and the sugar begins to crystallize. Stir VERY frequently.

Transfer the ginger to either a cooling rack or parchment-lined sheet pan in an even layer until cool. Discard the excess ginger sugar, or reserve for another use. Store the candied ginger in an airtight container.

Is faith inaction or is it doing as you are called and designed to do? Do we just sit back and believe everything is for a reason and will be okay or is that an oppressive lie? What would happen if every human being exercised their free will, stood up, and used their talents and gifts? Who are you? Do you have enough faith to find out? Just one of those stray thoughts that wormed around in my brain one morning. A simple phrase, “Is faith inaction?”

Thank you for watching!

Hi there! I'm Squirrel Bait.

I make informative as well as fun videos. In fact, I like to combine the two. Topics I cover are survival and preparedness, current events related to our freedom, lessons in my life and health. I have no one to pass all these things I’ve learned down to so I am sharing it all with you. All while having fun being me.

I'm a little off my rocker as you will see, but I'm harmless most of the time. It's a good thing I can laugh at myself! Remember, I am not paranoid just aware and informed.

Thanks for watching. Nice to meet you!
