Alexander Pushkin, often hailed as the greatest Russian poet and the founder of modern Russian literature, was a towering figure in the literary world. Cologne, the vibrant city on the banks of the Rhine River, is synonymous with one thing - Kölsch. This light and refreshing beer isn't just a beverage; it's an integral part of Cologne's identity. Kölsch is more than just a drink; it's a cultural experience. Brewed exclusively in and around Cologne, this top-fermented beer has been a symbol of the city for centuries. It's served in slender, small glasses, known as "Stangen," and typically poured straight from the barrel by the Köbes (waiter) in traditional bars. This intimate, social ritual of enjoying Kölsch is a true reflection of the city's convivial spirit.
