This playlist is a collection of my videos detailing how to use the 2019 Book of Common Prayer for Morning Prayer.
This was originally recorded for YouTube before I had created a Bitchute account. Hopefully, liking, subscribing, and sharing are all part of your support of independent creators.
Morning Prayer requires a few minutes of preparation before you can just jump into it. Father Jeremiah explains that one needs to mark the day's Scripture lessons, the Psalms in the Psalter, and the Collect of the Day before beginning. This is the first in a series on How to Pray Morning Prayer.

A lectionary is simply a series of Scripture readings with the intention of guiding the reader through the Bible in a particular and timely manner. This lectionary can be used as a one-year lectionary or be broken up into a two-year lectionary.

Father Jeremiah continues to introduce praying Morning Prayer. Here he talks about how to follow the Psalter in the Book of Common Prayer. The psalter is simply a translation of the Book of Psalms for group recitation. When you look at the Psalter, you will notice an asterisk in every verse. Father Jeremiah will address that in another video about Morning Prayer at a later time.

Father Jeremiah talks about his favorite canticle from the Book of Common Prayer: The Te Deum Laudamus. This canticle is a hymn of praise to the trinitarian God which follows the reading of the Old Testament. It recalls the worship that God receives from all of creation and reminds us of Jesus coming to accomplish salvation. It points us toward the Apostles' Creed in structure. It also brings to the forefront that one's worship is never isolated from the whole of the Church throughout time and space.

Father Jeremiah continues his teaching on Morning Prayer. He gives a brief explanation of the Apostles' Creed and its use in Morning Prayer. We need the constant reminder of this creed in order to help us grow in our faith as it is a foundational statement of belief.
The text:
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified died, and was buried. He descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven, and it seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

Father Jeremiah continues walking through Morning Prayer, looking at a special collect called the General Thanksgiving. This prayer is very unique in that it wasn't composed by Archbishop Cranmer or used by the ancient Church in previous generations, but was written by another man. Father Jeremiah explains all of these things and more about this collect in this video.

The words of this collect are:
Almighty God, Father of all mercies, we your unworthy servants give you humble thanks for all your goodness and loving-kindness to us and to all whom you have made.
We bless you for our creation, preservation, and all the blessings of this life; but above all for your immeasurable love in the redemption of the world by our Lord Jesus Christ; for the means of grace, and for the hope of glory.
And, we pray, give us such an awareness of your mercies, that with truly thankful hearts we may show forth your praise, not only with our lips, but in our lives, by giving up our selves to your service, and by walking before you in holiness and righteousness all our days;
Through Jesus Christ our Lord, to whom, with you and the Holy Spirit, be honor and glory throughout all ages. Amen.

Father Jeremiah is the vicar (part time parish priest) of Grace Anglican Church in Gastonia, NC. Grace Anglican is a church that is intentionally liturgical and desires to show people the beauty of the liturgy in daily life. We want people to learn how to serve Jesus through the various vocations he has placed each of us in. These vocations are the God-given places of our lives where we can truly love and serve our neighbors. The liturgy connects to our vocations by shaping us to see and love the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit in our serving those we encounter in our daily lives.
Grace Anglican is a multi-generational, growing congregation that thrives on building relationships with all those who enter her doors. We worship every Sunday at 10am at 800 Robinson Rd, Gastonia, NC. Come and visit and discover the joy of liturgical worship and being sent to love and serve in our vocations. Visit us at https://www.gracegastonia.com for more about our church.
