Los Angeles child psychiatrist Dr. Mark McDonald explained, during a physicians summit in Washington, DC, on Monday the detrimental effects the lockdown is having on children and the way their parents are supervising them. “[The parents are] preventing their children from playing outside. They’re preventing their children from going shopping with them. They’re preventing their children from participating in sports. They’re coddling their children because they think that that’s what’s best for them. The children are suffering. In my view, this is child abuse,” said McDonald.

Dr. Dan Erickson, owner of Accelerated Urgent Care based in Bakersfield, California, spoke at Monday’s “White Coat Summit” on Capitol Hill as part of a greater effort to extinguish fears surrounding the Chinese coronavirus and reminded the public that “99.8 percent of people get through this with little to no progressive or significant disease.”

“Anxiety hotline calls up a thousand percent. Child abuse both sexual and [nonsexual], up. Financial, emotional distress. Suicide. Alcohol. A hundred and fifty thousand Americans a month not receiving cancer screening. [Lockdown has] been effective alright, in all the wrong metrics,” said Dr. Dan Erickson, owner of Accelerated Urgent Care in Bakersfield, CA, about the lockdown’s costly side effects to people’s health at Monday’s “White Coat Summit” on Capitol Hill.
