On Sunday, March 17th, 2024, Los Angeles County Montrose Search and Rescue (SAR) received an iPhone SOS message reporting an injured hiker in the Switzer Falls area, near Pasadena.

By the simple use of an iPhone, LA County Sheriff's Department SAR was able to know the exact location of the injured hiker and his family. The hiker with an ankle injury was carried approximately a mile to safety by the rescue crew.
