Book of Visions: A Tale of Night by Einojuhani Rautavaara

The Finnish compose Einojuhani Rautavaara would complete his orchestral collection ‘Book of Visions’ in 2005 with the premiere performance being given the same year in Brussels. The work was a combined commission from the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, the Orchestra National de Belgique and the NHK Symphony Orchestra.

The work is comprised of four sections or ‘books’, each titled after a concept and how Rautaaara perceived that concept in life.

The four sections of this collection are:
I. A Tale of Night
II. A Tale of Fire
III. A Tale of Love
IV. A Tale of Fate

LESS
